About Me

---

My name is Rebecca Connors; I am running as the endorsed Independent candidate to be your state representative. I will work to bring change in what representation looks like for the people of East Hartford.

Part of the pride in this town was instilled in me by my grandfather, George Agnelli Sr., who was a lifelong Main Street businessman and philanthropist. He had a "no nonsense" attitude but was always willing to give to those in need and support local businesses in town. One of my favorite memories growing up is being at Anderson Jewelers and seeing him wear his famous duck tie while making sales for the Rotary Club Duck Race.

During my childhood, I grew up just off of School Street, attended St. Christopher’s School, was a member of my local girl scout troop, and even helped with my best friend’s paper route when we were kids. During my middle school years, my family moved to Glastonbury. However, following my graduation from Glastonbury High School, I moved back to the town I am proud to call home.

After moving back home, I enrolled at Manchester Community College to obtain my Associate of Science (AS) degree in Paralegal Studies and Paralegal Certification. Currently, I am pursuing in my Bachelor’s Degree program with a major in Political Science. With my paralegal career, education, and advocacy experience, I have been able to bring a modern perspective on longstanding issues when working with people to help solve problems.

One of the best things about East Hartford is the community and people of this town. Just a few years ago, my neighborhood faced multiple dire issues after a propane explosion and fire. This exacerbated pre-existing issues that could no longer be ignored: non-functioning fire hydrants, water shut-offs, loss of homes, damage to personal property, and one resident even lost their pet cat. This event made me realize enough was enough, and if nobody was going to help us, we would do it ourselves.

In order to work towards solutions for our neighborhood, I set up meetings with corporate representatives and our current state representative, Henry Genga, to voice the concerns of all residents. We now have two dedicated firefighting hydrants within our neighborhood, and continue to have meetings to address any new concerns. Our issues and concerns in this town are not partisan — they belong to our entire community. We need politicians who truly put the interests of all people first.
